There was the time in Italy when a woman shook violently and Rev. Vincent Lampert said he saw her levitate above a chair.

“If I had not seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t have believed it,” Lampert, 48, a Roman Catholic priest and designated exorcist for the Diocese of Indianapolis, said. “There was nothing between her and the chair. My jaw must have been open.”

Jamaican pastors have seen an increase in demands to excorcise demons

Some Jamaican pastors claim that there has been an increase in the number of cases of ’demon-possession’ in which they are being asked to intervene. Some of these pastors attribute this religious phenomenon to increasing scepticism about spiritual matters; greater access to a range of cultural, spiritual and religious thinking and practices via the Internet; and widespread sexual permissiveness.

“It’s a lot I have dealt with, so I know exactly what I am talking about. A lot of them (demons) are around and sometimes they are living in people’s heart that you would be surprised to know who they are living in. People sometimes look calm and cool, but when they begin to activate, you realise that something is wrong,” said Bishop Edwards.

“This is warfare. We’ve gotten way behind. We’ve lost the concept of spiritual warfare,” said Msgr. Marvin Mottet, the official exorcist of the Diocese of Davenport, Iowa.

The 80-year-old retired priest said that about once a month he sees a serious case of possession and “tons” of cases of demonic influence in which people are being “bothered or attacked by evil spirits.” Those kinds of cases, he said, are “a daily thing.”
